What is Hair Transplant?

The procedure starts with the preparation of bald area. Your head is cleaned well and the back of your head is numbed by injecting medicine by your doctor. There are two methods for Hair Transplantation:

1. FUSS ( Follicular Unit Strip Surgery): The surgeon cuts a strip of hairy skin from your back of the head and kept it aside. The surgically skin removed and sewed area is covered by natural hair growth overtime. The cut skin strip is split into multiple grafts mostly as individual hairs or as few hairs. The tiny hairs are then planted in the bald area.

2. FUE ( Follicular Unit Extraction): Your Doctor team will shave some hairy part of your head. Then the hairy follicles are plucked from the area one by one. Then the graft hair is planted at the bald area one by one. The hair plucked holes will gradually be filled by naturally grown hair over time.

How much time required for Hair Transplant?

Time depends on the size of transplantation to be covered. Normally the procedure will take about 4 to 8 hours.

Does it need more than one visit?

You are advised to visit your doctor few number of times to let him monitor the result of the surgery. Sometime you may need another procedure when it requires more density or when hair fall is higher.

How much time it needs to see the hair growth?

Hair transplant will not get you instant result. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to see the fall of planted hair (only shaft of the hair falls) and 3 to 4 months for the growth.

What are the aftercare procedures?

Your Doctor will prescribe you

• pain medication
• antibiotics to reduce your risk of infection
• anti-inflammatory medications to keep swelling down
