What is scaling?

Dental problems are caused by bacteria called plaque. Plaque sticking on the walls of the mouth, gums and teeth can cause inflammation specifically to the gums. This leads to form pockets or spaces between gum and teeth. Plaque then settles to the pockets which cannot be removed with ordinary brushing. If not the settled plaque is removed by scaling, gum disease could cause tooth and bone loss.
